Every child wants to read. Every child wants to write. But in poor communities around the world — including many right here in the United States — they don't have that opportunity. If children are unable to read and write, they will struggle to attain productive and independent lives.
You can change that by giving the gift of literacy — Souns.
Souns is a simple, carefully-crafted and effective literacy program. It places the letters of print into the hands of learners, giving them a touchable way of exploring the sounds in words — and the world of print — around them.
Here are a few ways you can help us expand our work and give the gift of literacy to even more communities:
This gift delivers a set of Souns to a public library, where trained staff and caregivers will guide the youngest learners on a natural path to early literacy, ensuring a critical foundation for their future education.
We're working with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to help refugees — both children and adults — learn how to recognize and use letters. This gift will help families as they begin hopeful new lives here in the United States.

As Souns is applicable to multi-lingual environments, we're working with classrooms, dedicated teachers and local organizations in South Africa to ensure that all children have the tools to learn reading and writing, preparing them not only for a better education but for a more successful life.

Young children with developmental disabilities and delays face learning challenges that must be addressed at an early age. This gift will put Souns into the hands of a special needs child and help the family meet his or her unique learning needs.
